Columbus , Ohio – January 18, 2008 – Sterling Commerce, an AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) subsidiary, today announced President and CEO Bob Irwin has been recognized as “Executive of the Year” for companies with 50 or more employees by the 2007 TopCat Innovation Awards. The annual awards by TechColumbus recognize outstanding achievements in technology leadership for companies in the Central Ohio area, a growing technology region.

2007 marked Irwin’s first year as President and CEO of Sterling Commerce, having previously served as the top sales executive and a key member of the executive team. When Irwin assumed executive responsibilities, he was charged with reinvigorating the company.
In 2007, Irwin has driven the company’s vision, growth, and profitability. He is focused on leading Sterling Commerce into becoming one of the top enterprise software companies and a major player in the market. In the past year, Irwin has provided strategic leadership in articulating the company vision, transforming the company’s software delivery efforts, building strategic partnerships and leveraging the company’s parent company, AT&T, and key customer constituencies.
Irwin has more than 21 years of experience through work at IBM, several technology consulting practices, and as an information technology (IT) executive at leading financial services and healthcare companies. He began his career at IBM as a major account salesperson for four years, followed by three years as a major account sales manager. After IBM, he built three successful technology consulting practices in the areas of software development, network engineering and business management. Irwin received his Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio State University in 1982.
The TopCat Innovation Awards are presented by TechColumbus, which accelerates and supports the growth of Central Ohio’s technology economy.
