Jim Bengier Selected as a Supply & Demand Chain Executive Provider Pro to Know

3/17/2008

Columbus, Ohio – March 17, 2008 – Sterling Commerce, an AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) subsidiary, today announced that Jim Bengier, the company’s retail industry executive, has been named a Provider Pro to Know by Supply & Demand Chain Executive.  The Supply & Demand Chain Executive Provider Pros to Know is a listing of individuals from a software firm or service provider, consultancy, or analyst or research firm who have a vision for the 21st century supply chain and have personally helped clients apply technology or processes to modernize their supply chains.

"Our Provider Pros to Know are helping raise the supply chain's status within the enterprise by developing the tools and processes necessary for supply chain transformation and promoting new approaches to supply chain enablement," said Andrew K. Reese, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive.  “We are pleased to have Jim Bengier among our Provider Pros to Know.  He is helping retailers transform the end consumer’s buying experience by combining his strong supply chain background with solutions from Sterling Commerce.”

Jim Bengier has a vision to help retailers – and the suppliers with whom they work – conquer the challenge of seamless cross-channel execution.  Bengier came to Sterling Commerce in April 2007 because he saw that the company offered innovative solutions to solve this challenge.  Only Sterling Commerce brings together the power of community, internal and external integration, and cross-channel applications necessary to effectively address the visibility and management gaps on both the customer-facing and supply-facing sides of the retailer’s business.

“This is outstanding recognition for Jim Bengier, a seasoned supply chain veteran and industry thought leader,” said Ken Ramoutar, vice president of Global Industry Marketing at Sterling Commerce.  “Jim’s passion for helping retail customers advance their cross-channel strategies is an example of how Sterling Commerce is taking a more vertical approach to partnering with our customers to help them innovate and transform their businesses.”

Bengier has over 25 years of experience within the apparel, footwear, and electronics categories.  He has spoken at Retail Executive Summits and participated in National Retail Federation round table sessions.  Bengier has been involved in every aspect of supply chain, with specific expertise in forecasting, location management, developing inventory improvement metrics and processes, business optimization strategies, and merchandise system implementations.  He also is a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, NRF International Trade Advisory Committee Policy Council and Strategic Supply Chain Council, and the Supply Chain and Logistics Forum.
