Information We Collect
Personal Information. Sterling Commerce may collect Personal Information that you provide voluntarily when using or interacting with the Site, for example, when you provide us with Personal Information to register on the Site, when you use the "Contact Us" or "Tell Me More" functions to contact us via e-mail, when you submit resume information, when you participate in any online surveys, and/or when you submit a "Product & Services Inquiry Form", "Collateral Request" or other on-line documents.
The Personal Information typically requested, includes, but is not limited to, your name, company name, physical address, e-mail address, telephone number, and fax number, as well as Information regarding certain software packages and Internet service provider used by you or your organization. If you choose to make an online purchase or enter into other transactions with Sterling Commerce, we may collect payment information relating to such purchase or transaction, such as your credit card number, expiration date, security code, and billing address (collectively "Payment Information"). Your submission of Information in an on-line document or email constitutes your consent to the use of such Information as described in the Privacy Policy in effect at the time of submission. You may refuse to provide certain Information; however the failure to provide requested Information may result in your inability to use certain features of this Site.
Additionally, Sterling Commerce affiliates (AT&T Inc. and any of its subsidiaries, "Affiliates") or unaffiliated third parties (such as our Sterling Commerce partners, "Partners") may provide Sterling Commerce with Personal Information about you that was not collected on the Site, and we may add such data to your user profile. Please note that Sterling Commerce does not control the acts of visitors to the Site. You should be aware that Personal Information you disclose in an online support user forum on the Site may become public and accessible by others; as such it is important for you to exercise discretion and appropriate caution when deciding to reveal Personal Information in these areas of the Site. There may be opportunities on the Site to refer a co-worker to Sterling Commerce. If you take this action, we will ask that you provide their name and business e-mail address. Further, we will automatically send your co-worker a one-time email inviting him or her to visit the Site. Sterling Commerce stores this information to track the success of the referral system. Your co-worker may contact us at inquiry@stercomm.com to request that we remove this information from our database.
Other Information. When visitors come to the Site, we collect and aggregate information indicating among other things which pages of the web site were visited, the order in which they were visited and which hyperlinks were "clicked" (collectively, “Non-Personal Information”) Collecting such Non-Personal Information involves the logging of the IP addresses, operating system and browser software used by each Site visitor. Although such information is not personally identifiable on its own, we can determine from an IP address information such as a visitor’s Internet service provider and the geographic location of their point of connectivity, and we may match such Non-Personal Information to your Personal Information. When we match such Non-Personal Information to your Personal Information, the component of the matched information that consists of your Personal Information will continue to be governed in accordance with the provisions of this Privacy Policy concerning our use of your Personal Information.
Sterling Commerce (and/or our contractors) occasionally use small text files placed on a user’s browser or computer hard drive ("Cookies") to help us determine, among other things, the type of content and web sites to which a Site visitor links, the length of time each visitor spends at any particular area of the Site and the services a Site visitor chooses to use. Cookies are designed to be read by the computers or servers that placed them, and should be unable to execute any code or virus. Cookies allow us to serve you better and more efficiently, and to personalize your experience on this Site. Sterling Commerce (and/or our contractors) may also use so-called "pixel tags," "web beacons," "clear GIFs" or similar means (collectively, "Pixel Tags") in some Site pages and HTML-formatted e-mail messages to, among other things, compile aggregate statistics about Site usage and response rates. A Pixel Tag is an electronic image, often a single-pixel (1x1), that is ordinarily not visible to Site visitors and may be associated with Cookies on the visitors’ hard drives. Pixel Tags allow us and our contractors to identify the number of users who have visited certain pages of the Site, to deliver branded services, and to help determine the effectiveness of promotional or advertising campaigns. When used in HTML-formatted email messages, Pixel Tags can tell the sender whether and when the email has been opened. Sterling Commerce (and/or our contractors) may use advertising companies to deliver ads for Sterling Commerce offered services and products on our web sites or on third party web sites. These Internet ads are often called "banner ads" and may contain third-party cookies or web beacons that allow tracking of visitors' responses to our advertisements. Additionally, although these third parties may receive anonymous web usage information about ad viewing on such web sites, we prohibit them from using this information for any purpose other than to assist us in measuring the effectiveness of our ads.
Sterling Commerce reserves the right to use Non-Personal Information to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law, including, but not limited to, using such information in aggregated form to perform statistical analyses of the collective characteristics and behavior of Site visitors and to provide such aggregated data and statistical analyses to our Affiliates, Partners and other third parties.
How We Use and Share Personal Information
Please note that we cannot be responsible for the privacy practices or the content of third party web sites, and we do not control the practices of any of our Partners to whom this Site is linked. We cannot and do not assume responsibility for any actions or omissions of third parties, including the manner in which they use information received from Sterling Commerce or independently.
Web sites Controlled, Owned or Operated by Sterling Commerce or its Affiliates. We may share Personal Information collected from you through this Site with other web sites that are controlled, owned or operated by Sterling Commerce or its Affiliates as set forth herein.
Marketing, promotion and market research. In general, when you submit Personal Information to us, you are consenting to use of your Personal Information by Sterling Commerce, its Affiliates, or contractors to market and promote the products and services of Sterling Commerce and its Affiliates, to conduct market research (whether or not done on an aggregated basis), and to disclosure of your Personal Information to our Affiliates for their marketing purposes. Sterling Commerce Contractors. These third parties are prohibited from using your Personal Information for any other purposes.
Some contractors, such as our recruiting partner that runs our "Careers" section of the web site, will collect your personally identifiable information directly on their web site. These pages may have the look and feel of the Sterling Commerce web site for ease in navigation. These contractors are performing this function on our behalf and information provided here is subject to this Privacy Policy.
Order processing. Personal Information may be used to process orders, to provide products and services and to develop new products and services. We may provide to credit card companies and other vendors all Personal Information necessary to process and complete your online purchases and other transactions, including, without limitation, your Payment Information.
Other Administrative & Non-Marketing Uses. Sterling Commerce reserves the right to contact you in connection with administrative and other non-marketing matters in connection with the Site or Sterling Commerce’s business (for example, contacting you to facilitate, complete or confirm a transaction).
Surveys. We may offer surveys and polls on the Site that ask for you to assess and provide opinions on various issues. Sterling Commerce reserves the right to add your survey answers to your user profile. Sweepstakes, Contests, Raffles and Other Similar Promotions. We may operate sweepstakes, contests, raffles and similar promotions through the Site. We typically ask you for certain Personal Information when you enter and, if applicable, win a sweepstakes, contest, raffle or similar promotion. We reserve the right to share this Personal Information with third parties sponsors of such sweepstakes, contests, raffles and promotions (irrespective of whether it is hosted by us), or otherwise in accordance with the rules applicable to such sweepstakes, contest, raffle or promotion. Security
Sterling Commerce takes reasonable efforts to protect the security of your Information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer ("SSL") software. Further, Sterling Commerce takes reasonable precautions to prevent unauthorized third parties from accessing Information stored at Sterling Commerce. Despite such efforts, hackers may wrongfully gain access to transmissions or to stored data. Sterling Commerce is not liable for damages caused by any wrongful access to transmissions or to stored data.
Offline vs. Online Practices
This Privacy Policy applies solely to online information collection and use practices in connection with the Site. It does not apply to any practices conducted offline or in connection with other web sites owned or operated by Sterling Commerce, or any Sterling Commerce Affiliate or subsidiary.
Changing Personal Information
If you would like to correct, update or delete your contact or member information, please contact us at inquiry@stercomm.com, and Sterling Commerce will seek to implement this change to your Sterling Commerce profile within thirty (30) calendar days. Please be aware that any such requests will be implemented only in connection with your profile for this Site, and will not impact any preferences you may have made to any other web site controlled, owned or operated by Sterling Commerce or its Affiliates.
If you are accessing this site from a country other than the United States, your Information may be transferred outside of the country in which you reside or work for use by Sterling or third parties as described in this Privacy Policy. Your submission of the Information constitutes your consent to such transfer of your Information.
Sterling Commerce complies with the EU Safe Harbor framework as set forth by the Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal data from the European Union.
