Cecilia Martaus is Senior Vice President and General Council for Sterling Commerce, responsible for the global legal function, which includes litigation, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic relationships.
Prior to Sterling Commerce, Martaus was General Attorney in the Entertainment Services group for AT&T where she was responsible for content acquisition for the Internet access, homezone and blue room products, advertising and original video production. Previously, she was assigned as the lawyer supporting a team charged with launching AT&T U-verse products including TV, Internet access, and VOIP.
Martaus began her career as a trial lawyer for Eastman and Smith in Toledo, Ohio, and was the first woman trial lawyer at the firm. She continued her career with Ohio Bell where she was an in-house lawyer for 12 years. Martaus moved on to work at Sohio (BP Amoco) in Cleveland, Ohio, before returning to SBC in San Antonio, Texas, after the Ameritech merger.
Martaus earned a Juris Doctorate from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toledo.
