David Robinson is Senior Vice President, European Field Operations for Sterling Commerce, responsible for sales and marketing operations in United Kingdom, France and Germany. Robinson joined Sterling Commerce in 1992 as a Territory Sales Representative and most recently served as senior vice president of EMEA and prior to that as vice president for sales and marketing for EMEA. Prior to that, he was vice president, EMEA, for the Interchange Software Group of Sterling Commerce. Before joining Sterling Commerce, Robinson worked for AT&T and was responsible for building and managing electronic trading communities across Europe for major manufacturing and automotive companies. His data processing career began in the hotel industry in Ireland where he designed and implemented a new guest billing and back office system. Robinson then joined Inn-Ventory Computers Ltd., a start-up company in Leamington Spa, England, where he was instrumental in designing and selling the world's first in-flight tax-free sales system using hand-held computer technology, which subsequently became the market leader in the airline industry worldwide.
