File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

Where does FTP fit?
FTP is available on most platforms and is highly interoperable, making it a good choice for B2B interactions with partners and outside agencies. It is not the universal answer to your file movement need because of three key weaknesses; security, automation (requires extensive scripting), and the lack of centralized management and visibility into the transfer process.

Managed File Transfer addresses FTP weaknesses
Sterling Managed File Transfer Suite provides a comprehensive solution to all your file movement requirements. It doesn’t require that you replace all your FTP servers, but it can add security and visibility to those transfers. Sterling Managed File transfer gives you the total solution to:

  • Move whether batch, B2B, or ad-hoc transfers
  • Secure via encryption and perimeter security for better compliance
  • Control through central monitoring, configuration and SLA management
  • Accelerate via automation, high speed transports, and reliability
